Free ‘Dementia Friends’ training available…

dementia-friends-alzheimers-societyWe have been notified of some forthcoming training through the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia Friends’ programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia.  It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition.  Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK.  Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.

Dementia Friends is about learning more about dementia and the small ways you can help.

Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. Each information session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.

If you would like to book a place on one of the sessions, please contact Wendy Blunt, Health and Wellbeing Officer on 01246 345344 or wendy.blunt@chesterfield.gov.uk;
